This is the last Mashstix Alternative Show. I like to personally thank G3RST for the amazing job he's done with the show (don't worry he's not leaving the team)
There is some good news with the bad however, as The Radio Stix Show will be back in full swing with a whole new crew... keep your eyes peeled! - Paul Stix
Sorry for the delay...
Bloody hell mate, you been on the orange juice before bedtime? This is banging. It's also so far removed from anything i've done, this is gonna a challenge to review.
I love the fx - Rise Against vocals over Prodge, you know you've gotta come good with the fx to help it sit right and this doesn't disappoint.
The track allows enough space between vocals to catch your breath! I like the quieter bits sometimes, to prepare for onslaught and enjoy it more. Nice one.
Cons:
The original version you did was a bit abrupt as was mentioned in the forum, but i think the sections link and flow much better now.
I'd like to have heard this with the original prodigy tune. Pendulum knock out a good tune, but them improving an old prodigy tune would be like me just making a few fine touches on an Earworm mashup...
I'm not sure if it's at my end or not (it could well be), but there's a slight muddiness. It's not the crispest track i've heard from you. Did you eq this one much, or was the pella quite dirty? Probably related to this - i think the mental could be slightly higher up in the mix, but it's not a biggie.
The choruses work better than verses imho, with the rhyme pattern of the vocals.
Tips:
Even the mighty g4g listens to suggestions - i think the vocals' entry is so much nicer now than the original version you did.
It's not to my taste, but i know plenty of people who will love this and i shall be playing it them and claiming credit for coming across such a banger! I thank you.
In anticipation of my first MashStix review since joining the site, I was hoping for at least a quality first mix to critique, and like your other mixes, this did not disapoint. Perfectly on beat and the pitch sounds good, except for one or two little parts when she stretches for a high note where it may not have been 100% perfect. Overall, very solid...you obviously know what your doing.
Cons:
One thing that bothered me a little was the fact that the back beat was pretty plain until around the 2 minute mark. While this is perfectly fine for an A + B mashup, I was hoping for maybe a little more early on. Something like this could cause the average listener to hit next. This was still better than most GaGa "Bad Romance" mixes I've heard!
Tips:
Your obviously rock solid on the basics, so maybe a little more creativity for this one, especially since you chose a heavily remixed song. I look forward to hearing more from you!
Big fish, little fish, card board mother huffin box!
I don't usual like g4gorilla's tunes ;) but this is great.
Looks like Paul is giving me all the good tunes to review now, after I quoted the Geneva Convention earlier in the week.
A perfectly producted multi 'pella d'nace mash, everything in the mix compliments everything else. I've got a soft spot for I Like to Move It by Reel 2 Reel, as it was the first song I was asked to officially remix back in the day, so I'll forgive you putting a house vocal over a house 'mental (and as there's is an 18 yr age difference between these tracks). This is g4gggggreat!
Cons:
personally I'd have filtered Nelly's vocal over the first couple of bars, rather than having it quieter, but I'm nit picking. nowt' wrong this, it's a booty bobby dazzla.
