Ghostbustin (In The Jungle) Ray Parker Jr. Vs Guns N Roses

Post Wed Dec 26, 2018 8:10 pm

I should know of all people that Welcome To The Jungle is a force to be reckoned with tons of crazy key changes I must not so secretly loathe myself, I had a idea of getting rid of the Eb Mixo section in the verses and looping the Ab Mixo section instead, I then repitched Ray Parker Jr's voice through Melodyne to match the chords of the Ab Mixo section, Although the chorus obviously needs improvements and the bridge as well. So I hope I make it through the jungle!
Oh and one more thing went to Dropbox instead of Sowndhaus when the final version is done and everything is corrected it will be uploaded to Sowndhaus, I swear I got another KCDC on my hands with how many versions It will take to perfect this! Oh and Ghostbusters is equally challenging as well! Comment and Critique once you get the chance! Sorry for the novel!

Another idea with lots of potential…

I’m trying to figure out what you did to the Ghostbusters vocal melody with Melodyne…because just bringing it down 3 semitones to A♭ might be your best bet…

I would bring the vocals in sooner, so that “If there’s…” lands before the first beat.

As far as the key changes go, the nice thing about Ghostbusters if you have the non-melodic vocals such as “I ain’t afraid of no ghosts” and the unison “Ghost-busters!” that you could use strategically to avoid key clashing. (For example, I think of the chorus: “In the jungle, welcome to the jungle…...…I ain’t afraid of no ghosts!”)

Yep! Lots of potential and lots of work ahead of ya!

V2 is now on the OP!
Dropped the vocal by 3 semitones, Added the Ghostbusters siren intro and the synthesizers until the kids chant the first GHOSTBUSTERS!, Fixed some timing issues towards the end and middle of the mix along with moving the vocals at the start back that way the word strange falls on the first beat, Comment and Critique once you get the chance!

V3 has been added to the OP, Includes lowered volume of the Synths and Effects track from the GB Multis, Removed Duff Mckagan from the intro as he was clashing pretty badly thanks to Angus for the help with that, Stretched the GB Intro over the WTTJ Intro, Changed the key of Ray's vocal during the bridge repitched individual notes in Reaper, Cleaned up the timing of Ray's vocal and since the ending was choppy with the first two versions I fixed that as well, Along with repitching Ray to Eb Mixo during one part of the song since I accidently left a small Eb Mixo part in the WTTJ Instrumental, Sorry for the long story here but comment and critique once you get the chance!

PS Have a safe and happy new year!

V3 is mostly an improvement. The intro is sounding better--it still clashes a bit but it sounds intentionally “spooky” like the original. And it comes in right on time.

But then the main synth melody comes in a beat or two early and everything else in the first verse seems at least a half beat early. Then the second verse comes in late…and I would also think about looping the riff another time so you can fit the whole second verse in…

The “Ghostbusters!” chant at 2:26 is perfectly placed! The rest of the placement is all pretty enjoyable, too--the timing still needs some tightening up.

Version 3 verse is in key now but the overall blend isn't working for me. Part of is is the volume as Mash suggested but I feel like they simply are not gelling well.

V4 has now been added to the OP, Added a little more of the synthesizers in the 2nd verse and some later on in the mash as well, Fixed the timing of the 2nd verse and other sections, Comment and Critique once you get the chance, Btw Synths have been repitched although it might not be entirely perfect it is on the way to becoming perfect! Thanks Again

Interesting :1smiley:

I have the same feeling here, but still, it's interesting, it might need some more work, though.

In version 4 I also find the vocals a bit late at times, like @0:50-0:59, and there more.
I also not sure if the additional part from Ghostbusters mental @0:34-0:41, with the trumpet, is a good idea, or maybe it is not in place :1undecided:
