Mashup request for Halloween/Thrillerween? Help please!

Post Tue Oct 27, 2015 2:35 am

Hi, I'm new to this and I only joined just to post on this forum (because I have no experience in being a DJ whatsoever lol)... Anyways since Halloween is coming up, I recently came up with this crazy idea of a mashup between Something In My House by Dead Or Alive (music video version? I don't know... and I heard it's blocked in the US and Canada, maybe elsewhere too so I don't know if any of you will have trouble watching it? :1undecided: ) and Thriller by Michael Jackson. THIS MASHUP NEEDS TO HAPPEN! lol. Would anyone be kind enough to please do this? Again, I have no experience in "DJ-ism" (???) whatsoever :1embarassed:

What you're asking is not DJ-ism, it's Producer-ism :1wink:

A DJ plays venues transitioning/mixing tracks live, a producer makes the tracks that the DJ is mixing/transitioning :1tongue: (generally, mashups can be done live by DJs but if so, aren't designed to be recorded and shared)

Anyway, welcome to the forum! If you want to request one of us to make a mashup, you'd help your case if you found the acapella and/or instrumental files for both sources, otherwise a mashup is pretty much impossible to make. :1undecided:

Oh nice! But I'm not that either lol :1tongue: Thanks! ... oh gawd now I feel like a horrible person for not supplying the music :1shocked: But here's the music I guess lol
Thriller acapella: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNS9vCKyGOQ
Thriller instrumental: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMuSTb_ax2Q
Something In My House instrumental (not official, missing the piano (synth?) thing too): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDMIy96nZqE
Something In My House music video version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZKNzs35GP8

(Anyone please feel free to use any of the above links!)

Thriller acapella and instrumental was very easy to find as I already know they exist lol but SIMH was pretty challenging, especially with the acapella as apparently it doesn't exist and not finding the right instrumental :1sad: I don't know how acapellas and instrumentals are made/stripped to those parts but it would be very cool if that was done!
Thanks for being nice :1smiley:

P.S. By the way, can both vocals of both songs be used in the mashup? Just curious

LeprechaunJackson, I think you should try and make it and we can give you feedback on what to do to make it better. Not trying to be mean or anything:1grin: :1grin: :1grin:! Sorry if it came out a little harsh :1wink:.

I was the same way when I first started to learn how to make mashups. I had no idea what I was doing at first. Then after a while it was no problem to me. What kind of computer do you use because with Macs they have program called GarageBand and thats what I mainly use for the final mix but of changing the BPM and Keys I use VirtualDJ but slowly moving over to Pro Tools First. But VirtualDJ is good for beginners. As for converting youtube to mp3, I use this site. http://www.grabfrom.com. Hope this helps. Their are a lot better programs than GarageBand. But GarageBand is a lot simple to me cause I only use that. Hope this helps.

I made this in 2011, so excuse how awful it is but this is how I started - Mixcraft has a fully functioning demo you can use for 30 days so worth trying it out and hopefully the video tutorial should help you get to grips with it.

We also have a support/help section on this forum so if you do try it and get stuck, ask in there and we should be able to help you!

Also, a in 2010 I had no idea how to make a mashup, 5 years on I'm well and truly in love with the process and it's become an awesome hobby for me so.. yeah :1tongue:

@DJ J-Brew (sorry I don't know how to mention anyone directly on forums when there's multiple replies lol) oh wow! uhh I just use a regular PC... where can I download VirtualDJ from? I see that DJ Firth also uses VirtualDJ from his video and I don't know if both of you used different sites to download it. Haha I already know how to convert YouTube or whatever to mp3 by using this site http://convert2mp3.net/en/ (it also does soundcloud) and YTD :1tongue: . But thanks for the link! I kept it in bookmarks :1smiley:

@DJ Firth Thanks for the video! And don't worry, it's not awful lol :1tongue: where can I download Mixcraft from and what version should I use? And how do I strip a song down to the vocals and the instruments? Because I need both the acapella and instrumental versions of SIMH lol... I'm kinda scared that I won't get it in time for Halloween though :1undecided: Did Flo Rida cover DOA's You Spin Me Round? Because I swear I heard that song on a certain commercial that keeps coming up and I keep getting reminded of You Spin Me Round :1shocked: :1laugh: ok cool I will, thanks! :1smiley: aww nice! I'm glad you love it :1cool:
