I dunno, I listened to this one a few times on Soundcloud and again here. For some reason both Joy Division and the Furs sound sluggish and heavy compared to the original versions, which, admittedly are a bit heavy on their own. Something just sounds a bit off to me and I really had high hopes for this one. :1embarassed:

Hello Mr Retrospector
As you know I'm a huge fan so I hope you'll forgive me when I say I'm really not feeling this at all. It just left me wanting to hear one or the other... But not both together, sorry.

Hey guys, thx for the comments, always appreciated.
Made this boot with the original Joy Division tempo to begin with, but Richard Butler from the furs sounds like he's got a dose of the trots, and dyin' to get to the end of the track asap, hence the tempo drop. It worked better for me ;)

Have re-upped with a faster tempo, thoughts?

Hey Philretrospector, not working for me either. I love the Joy Division track but the vocals now seem to flatten the overall sound :1undecided: . Still thanks for your submission and your interesting taste of songs

I like the new version better...it has more "swing" (for lack of a better word) than the first version. For me at least, it's also one of those where I played the mental to death back in the day and it's hard to adjust to the new vocal on top (another tune I played to death). But after some repeated listens this morning it's growing on me. The ending is a bit muddled (where Butler is speaking over the last sections...maybe push it back further in the mix a bit?).

Modest bump before this drifts too far down the list...I've returned to listen to this one frequently and the more I listen the more it grows on me. Perhaps a mod or two may experience the same and give it a nod. Then again, my sense may be clouded by how much I liked the originals and my guess is most of the crew here is way too young to appreciate early 80s post punk... Thanks for the redo, Phil.
