[FP] Ice Ice Baby Snake (Vanilla Ice v Blasterjaxx)

Post Thu Mar 27, 2014 1:02 pm

Okay so I really wanted to do an 'Ice Ice Baby' mashup but knew so many people had already done one so thought I'd have to do something a little different so I picked this BEAST of a tune by Blasterjaxx,
Feedback would be great especially after my last blunder :1laugh:

You've got my vote of confidence! :1grin:

Good work Dj Firth!
Had my fist in the air most of the time, and it's on second rotation now! :1laugh:

Great choice of combo, it's a cheesemeister, no doubt, but I really like it!
I like the ice ice baby hits over that "russian chip tune" drop!
Boom!

Yeah!!!
You can 'ruin' (and by ruin I mean it in a positive mashy way) any track with Vanilla Ice!

Sometimes when the Blasterjaxx track is very dense/loud the vocals are drowning a little bit in the heavy compressed sounds.

Nice combo!

Thanks Void and PhacicNine - you should give them a youtube search, some cracking music they make - manage to make original music despite the mass over-crowding of Electro-house that is going on in EDM recently; top guys :1smiley:

This is actually pretty awesome mate!
Especially when the Vanilla Ice 'mental kicks in, the harmonics are pretty cool there.

I would have expected something else when reading the title,
but using the acapella AND the original tune on this one works pretty well here.

I'm not too much into the EDM stuff lately, but I really enjoyed this one.

Thanks Axcess; yeah I did the same thing with my 'Wake Me Up' mashup also - creates a really cool effect I think :1grin:

I think the fact you liked it compared to the 'EDM Craze' stuff is really Blasterjaxx's accomplishment; they are making some seriously good music these days :1grin:

Ice goes OOT in the first verse from "to the extreme" to "like a candle," but here's the strange thing about that section: he does the same thing in the original song. When you listen to it, I'm sure you've noticed how he doesn't finish that line on beat. So...while this OOT isn't totally on you, I hope you can at least find a way to mitigate that problem.

Also, as Void pointed out, Ice's vocals could stand to be a bit more prominent.

Of course I knew about this, just thought i'd leave it in cause it creates quite a good effect when it comes back on beat it's like 'what's happening?' then Boom, its back on time and the build to the drop is starting.

But I'll have a play around and improve it, the original dips instrumental when the vocal does this 'trick' so i'll see if I can implement something similar. Also shall try altering levels a little to sort the concerns with the vocal track :1smiley:

Thanks for the feedback, man I love this place :1grin:
