Thank you Sammy for this frontpaging compaign :D
and thanks a lot to RB for this explanation about warble :geek:

Know that I now what you all are talking about, I understand this is a problem of musical style.
The warble you hear is already present in the placebo instrumental and not due to a processing in the acapella as it is almost unprocessed.

check it:

No Flash Installed

As you can hear the pella is perfectly clean.

Hmm.. it might not be worble, but that acapella has a definite air of digital processing about it. I don't know what it is, but it sounds like it's been time-stretched out and back in again or something (I know the original song has a similar enough tempo to this to not have a great effect on natural vibrato). So now my question is - is that the acapella you started with? Because I know mine didn't sound like that to begin with.. I don't know what's been done to it, nor by whom, but I can tell you for definite that it's been changed somehow.

Agree with HFBS there- the pella seems to vary in volume a few times a second or so... If this is the only pella available, maybe you can counteract it by adding a slight reverb. This could make it sound a bit smoother.

Apart from that minor issue, I think this is great! :)

My source is the studio acapella in wav format, but it seems you have a better version. Could you please PM me the file. Thanks!

Well hopefully HBS can email him his pella to see if it sounds any better. We'll wait to hear back from Chocomang to see what he thinks one HBS sends him the pella.

All done:
chocomang wrote:Thanks,

I compared both files and they are not the same. Mine is a 32bit wav file in 44Khz while yours is 48KHz mp3 at 320kbps. I listened to both and compared the wave form and I can not say one is better form the other, the quality is equivalent. The timing is not exactly the same which mean at least one of them have been processed but I played them with the instrumental and both files played perfectly.

But after listening to my pella then Chocs version (with the dipping out mental), I'll be quite surprised if it's not fixed.

Choco .... Just because something says its a wav, it doesn't mean it originally started out that way. Something has definitely been done to it. It sounds time stretched to me (maybe warp marked for use in Ableton).

I hope you find a better pella because this is a really nice mashup. I don't normally go for this kinda thing, but it's definitely a winner.

If you have no joy with Oli's acapella, I can probably get you the real vocal stems from the master reel.

See how kind I am !

Thanks,
Like I already said to HBS, his pella and mine are of same quality, or maybe it is the 48 to 44Khz conversion, but I don't mix in 48Khz anyway and there are no worble.
The one you hear in the demo is stretched of course, the speed is no the same.

If you have a better pella or even pella stems from the master (OMG) could you please PM this to me. I will try to remix it with your sources.

I really like this!
I only know one song by Placebo, and it's not this, one, but I like it a lot.
Also, I'm really curious about where you got a Fray acapella.
