VIDEO - Tutorials and Q&A thread
I'm not sure if Dylan made a tutorial yet on how to make a simple video using Microsoft movie maker but I found this which is pretty simple.
If other people have good links to video turorials please post them here
Also, during my lunch break today it only took me about 15 minutes to make this simple still one pic video. The titles were too small to read on my first try but I'm still learning since I don't upload much to youtube and 1st time I've ever used movie maker and on the 2nd try I got the titles a bit bigger. Here's a link to what I made as an example of what can be done in about 15 minutes.

Re: Simple pic video using microsoft movie maker
never actually managed to get WMM to work for more than ten minutes before it crashed, gave up even tying to use it after 3 goes. personally i'd rather use nero vision express, in fact i have made several music videos with nero, but none you'll find online anywhere.
if anyone uses vegas, cuttv has about 50 videos on using it on YT
http://www.youtube.com/user/CUTTV
just scroll down the favourites to find em
actually bruski you have pointed something out that i find annoying sometimes in mash vids and thats the writing is too small to read. seen loads of em where they have who made it etc in tiny letters, which if your using full screen would be ok but on a YT standard size player is unreadable for me and i assume others as well. mind you has anyone noticed dj le clowns vids, he scrolls the credits at the end so fast if you blink you'll miss em!!
good effort on the vid by the way, next step, moving images

H Bruce
Thanks for posting this (turns out Im too lazy to make a tutorial ha).
I've also changed your post to have the videos stream here (Don't use the URL tags, use the video ones instead).
A tip for getting font sizes right is, export the project, play it back, resize the window to about the Youtube video size if you can read it, its ok.
I use Sony Vegas Pro (thanks for giving me that guy before B). whilst the preview function is not great - its fantastic for making mashup videos in. Oh .... and did I mention that we have a copy (donated by Sony) of the latest version to giveaway as a prize in the mashup chalenge ? (HA)

Boris, thanks for the tip! MMK didn't crash on me but it took like 15 minutes to export a 2 screen shot picture with an mp3. That seems a bit slow to me but hey it's free. I'll have to try out Nero as I have that on my computers as well. I'm just looking for the most simple way b/c I have Pinnacel Studio if I really want to make a real mashup video with moving video.

Dylan, thanks for that sizing tip and about Sony Vegas Pro. I'll post videos streaming here from now on following your tutorial on how to embed video I think found in another thread in the mashup contest.
That will be one sweet prize for the mashup contest winner!

if you use nero you will have to be patient and probably do it in one sitting as once something has been edited it wont let you open it again to re-edit, at least my copy won't

grabbing video
I'm an audio man, I know sweet f.a. about video and I would like to do my first video tutorial. Can anyone recommend software for recording video and audio from my pc? or is this a hardware thing?
please feel free to respond in a partronising, "duh!, you is so stoopid" eddie pedalo style, to give me a taste of my own medicine.

Re: grabbing video
are you talking about screen capture? as in recording whats going on on your screen, if it is then there are some good progs for that but it will cost you money
just type screen capture software into google and there's a lot of choices although not sure if you'll need video software for actually putting the tutorial together or if some of the capture software will do it?
just found this and its free
http://camstudio.org/
i should mention if you know eff all about video you may find you'll have to learn about it if you want to make a tutorial, plus hope you have a big hard drive
videos can be rather large in MB's depending on the codec used

Re: grabbing video

compared to audio, video is a complete nightmare to get your head around at first

Oh Ed, You is sooo stoopid !! hahahaha
I don't know much about this topic, so I'll leave it to B. But I couldn't resist saying that - not very constructive but fun none the less. ha
