Everyone needs to remember ......... we'll be putting the top three mashups in every group to the panel.

soo..the votes don't matter really do they :S? but i suppose it's nice to have..it's like gold stars at school.you couldn't buy anything with them, but they made you feel like super mario for a day.

but i think it's working, a few of my friends have been downloading mashups for ipods etc and a handful have joined, perhaps there should be 'mashup' accounts and 'listener' accounts?

And about the votes, yeah, it is unfair but life is unfair and blah blah blah
But yeah, I'd prefer if it was only up to the judges to decide who would get to the next round. But then it wouldn't be so interesting, I guess... And it wouldn't attract many different people to the website.

...All I can say is from here on in, WE WILL POST THE NAMEs OF ANY PRODUCERS VOTING TRACKS WITH A 1. A vote of one should be reserved for something out of key, and out of time - which I don't think any of the submissions are.

I WILL SAY IT AGAIN ... ANYONE WHO VOTES A 1 WILL HAVE HIS/HER IP ADDRESS CHECKED, IF YOU EITHER TRY TO USE AN IP PROXY OR TRY TO RIG VOTES YOU WILL HAVE YOUR NAME POSTED ON THIS FORUM, BE BANNED, AND WE'LL DO OUR BEST TO GET YOU BANNED FROM EVERY ACAPELLA & MASHUP SITE WE KNOW.

Now, I know this will potentially sound like sour grapes, but it's not - honest! I know my mash isn't the best out there, but I also know it isn't OOK, isn't out of temp and isn't completely crap (having received positive feedback from a number of sources and postings elsewhere already). The same should be said for entries from FLP, Visit Justin, MediaPlayer and g4gorilla (up to yesterday, I think). As of yesterday, we all had scores at or below 1.9. Now, my mathematics isn't degree level, but I understand averages and to my mind any mash with a score below 2 must have had a number of people voting 1 star. To me, this feels like people are definately tactical voting or getting mates / contacts to vote others down. Whilst I have posted my entry and video in all the usual places, and asked if people like it to vote for me, I certainly haven't asked anyone to vote others in the group 1 star - I thought this should be reserved for OOK and out of temp mashes - which none of these are. Can't wait for IP Addresses to be posted for 1 star scorers! There, said my piece. I'll stop sobbing into my beer and you can put away your violin!

@Sergio - Feel free to post the video anywhere you want. Thats one reason why we asked for a video, just point them towards mashstix so they can download, vote and hopefully join up / check out the sponsors.

@Flashybaby - We have already checked the entire votes for one group after some complaints. We also checked the postings on other sites /forums from the proposed naughty chap. We did find some 1 votes, but all from different IP's with full listings (proxy's do not have full listings) - BUT .... there was no evidence at all that this guy had actually asked people to vote down his competitors.

I think that the vote down thing happens when everyones 'good samaritan' friends try to 'help' you win. It happened during the Face Off challenge, between Hulk Mash, Nossy, and myself. We all recieved a number of 1 votes - but over time it averaged itself out.

With this challenge we have tried to combat vote riggers, by having a panel to look at the top three mashups from every group. The panel will look at:

Key, & harmony matching
Tempo matching
Originality
Creativity
Audio quality
etc

BUT ........ We will also be looking at how you have conducted yourself in teh challenge. Someone that has got involved, got talking, done promotion, and generally been here is valuable to Mashstix. We don't really want people in the final (and therefore the prizes) if all they are going to do afterwards is leave.

Just a gentle reminder to all participants of their contractual obligations in competing in the tournie, the rules of engagement, and required etiquette in voting for entries!! ...now off to find some votes from somewhere!!

Yes, the voting system is very interesting. But I believe the admins can see who has been voting. I have a couple questions to ask.

- Friends can vote? (if not, I am disqualified)
- Can we update or make changes to our song? (minor changes that is)

I had my friends come and check out mashstix, and vote on the songs that they like, although they are not members.

I know some people go low, and have people bomb songs, as others were talking about.

If so, maybe that should be a disqualification?

Ok, first thing is ONLY Paul can see the IP address of who has voted for any partilcular track and how they have voted.

You are encouraged to promote the track on your YouTube, Facebook, websites etc, so your friends can listen, & vote for your track (and other peoples). Anyone can vote, they don't need to be a member of the forum or anything. This was done so that its as easy as can be to promote both your track, and the website.

For this challenge we are not allowing any re-works to peoples submissions. That said we have allowed people that have distortion on their tracks to re-submit. If you want to do this, it's fine - but any changes to the actual mix down will mean your re-work gets rejected.

If any member (we can tell from IP addresses) decides to vote down tracks then we have already said it's wrong. Casting a vote of one, means you have zero respect for Mashstix, and the people you are in the group with. A vote of one should be reserved for something out of key & out of time. If a member is doing it to gain an advantage, they will be banned - simple as that.

Alright, great. I had a bad feeling about my friends voting, but now feel much better.

So, let me get this strait.

I have fixed a slur problem in my song, same beat, and same artists. I had added and changed some issues that have been bothering me.

Would I be entitled to re-summit my song?

Sorry, but no. We will allow anyone from the intermediate groups to re-submit after some basic mastering - But you cannot change any of the structure.

We allowed people to re-submit their tracks during the last big challenge and it was a nightmare.
