How long after we submit our track does it take for it to be posted? I submitted yesterday (Aug 2) afternoon (US EST that is).

Hi bud,

I had database and log in problems yesterday.... so my apologies..... will be going through the subs today and posting as I go as everything seems to be running smoothly now.

Good Luck,

Haha, no worries, I was wondering if I misspelled the e-mail or something, as I'm quite prone to do that kind of stuff.

Hi just a quick question.. what happens to the tracks after each round?? I mean with regards to say frontpaging? I only ask because I've already heard one that to my mind should be frontpaged...

Theres no plans at the moment to frontpage any. This is mainly because August & September are normally bad times to find available reviewers. Most will go on holiday during this time.

So, we just can't cope with the normal frontpaged stuff and the new content from the challenge. But I agree, there is at least two tracks in there so far that would normally be frontpaged. One of which I can't stop playing !

So for the next challenge can the voting system be changed? i feel like that the one we have now is flawed because im trying to get votes but i always think that peope are 1* sabotaging the comptetition. I get it that its important to show if you like a mash or not but the same goal can be achieved by just having a raw voting system, if you liked the mash it gets a vote and if you didnt... well then you didnt vote for it. I think that would fix the issue.

Oki: Tracks are exclusive to Mashstix just for the duration of the challenge (or until you win or get knocked out). You are welcome to post your track elsewhere, but please use the Mashstix.com links only (for streaming and download). This is to draw attention to the site, sponsors & challenge (not to mention the tunes ha).

After the challenge the track is yours to do with what you want. ;)

Perriere: The voting system is not idiot proof, there will always be people who try to alter things by cheating. All I can say is from here on in, WE WILL POST THE NAMEs OF ANY PRODUCERS VOTING TRACKS WITH A 1. A vote of one should be reserved for something out of key, and out of time - which I don't think any of the submissions are.

We did look at changing the system so it was either a thumbs up or thumbs down vote - but the same issue would arise. The only other thing we could do would be to implement a panel of judges, but with an expected turnout of over a hundred tunes - who would be willing to do that (and we would have to use established names).

This is the best way we have found so far, its just sad that some people dont mind playing dirty !

I WILL SAY IT AGAIN ... ANYONE WHO VOTES A 1 WILL HAVE HIS/HER IP ADDRESS CHECKED, IF YOU EITHER TRY TO USE AN IP PROXY OR TRY TO RIG VOTES YOU WILL HAVE YOUR NAME POSTED ON THIS FORUM, BE BANNED, AND WE'LL DO OUR BEST TO GET YOU BANNED FROM EVERY ACAPELLA & MASHUP SITE WE KNOW.

how about just a thumbs up voting system? im saying that there should be no way to alter the competitions score. It would be a strict, if you like it support it, kind of deal

Good suggestions about the voting fellas..... but I will say this.

voting is not going to be different due to various reasons..... mainly that anything bulletproof would require a log-in system and I will never subject people to that (I can't stand log-ins)

If you dig through the Face-Off forum (which was our test challenge for this very reason), you'll see that I went into more detail explaining why I chose the 5 star method. Yes, it's not perfect but it does its job. A single vote of "Like" seems like a good idea until you realize that people entering the last week of the challenge would totally have no chance.

So to sum it up.... it's a challenge that relies on musical creativity, mixing skill and popularity. Whoever pulls off all 3 categories will be considered the king of mashups not only in my eyes but to most that frequent this board.

Great response so far and keep the feedback/suggestions coming. Best of luck to everyone!
