Taking it back to the OldSkool!! Rave Mashup Album!!
I can't just let this idea pass without giving it it's own thread...
So guys... I'm sure there are a lot of us of a certain age who would appreciate such an album... So what do you say..??
Here's something to get you in the mood

Colatron wrote:Good lord my mate... are you SURE we aren't related? We seem to have had exactly the same musical education along the years!
And whilst I feel burnt out on compilations this year (not that I'm complaining, I've enjoyed every second of it), I would most DEFINITELY be up for an old skool album.
Messiah made me watch Running Man, and for that I'll forever be greatful

So Guys, this project seems to have started to raise some interest over at GYBO and a cross forum collaboration would be a great thing for the whole scene in general so now we here at Stix need to get involved

This sounds cool.
But, can we try making the title NOT something specifically 'MASHUP'?
(Unless it's decided not to include remixes).
I'd like to try messing around with remixing Quadrophonia by Quadrophonia.

P.S. Let me know if there's some facebook page where I need to sign up or something.

The're no title as yet, that's just the title of the thread
This is Bynar's project... so when he's back I'm sure he'll sort out the details.

I don't do mash-up anymore, but I do do oldskool rave. In fact I'm just putting the finishing touches to an album of oldskool. I've got a few tunes that I can't put on there, because they wouldn't clear copyright. I could bung you a couple.

Re: Taking it back to the OldSkool!! Rave Mashup Album!!
Hello everyone,
the idea of making an old skool mashup album has been in my head since listening to The Prodigy's 'World's On Fire' track. The way Mr. Howlett sampled Outlander's Vamp really blew me away and since I strongly believe that many of you people are as talented as the Prodge master himself (you probably just lack in terms of PR and connections LOL) and that music from the likes of Altern-8, Quadrophonia, Acen, SL2, N-Joi, Messiah, Lords Of Acid etc. *deserve* to be heard by a new audience, why not make a collective effort to bring these ace tracks of the late eighties / early nineties to the masses?
This album could feature both mashups and remixes, as long as all tracks contain old skool rave elements, might that be hardcore breakbeats, the 'hoover' sound, uplifiting pianos etc. - I think you get the picture. If there is enough interest and tracks, this old skool revival project could end up being a double album, with one CD filled with mashups and another one featuring remixes.
So, what do you think? All ideas and suggestions are welcome. If you're up for it, let's get to work!
Cheers,
Bynar
