Hi Guys,
In 45 days (and counting) Old Official.fm will close it's doors for good and at the moment there is some confusion as to whether the new Official.fm site will accept mashup producers. Now as you can imagine this will have a massive knock-on effect here at Stix, due to a vast proportion of our links coming from there. Over the next few days our illustrious leader Paul will be formulating plans to protect our site, so that when the deadline hits we can move forward with litttle if any consequence.

What do these changes at Official.fm mean to you..?
Well to put it bluntly; not much. They just mean finding a new home to host your tracks, be it the new Official.fm or elsewhere.

What do these changes at Official.fm mean to MashStix..?
well this is where the problems start; firstly your posts in the forums will need updating to new links, that's the easy bit, the harder bit will be the repopulation of the Frontpage.
So, when Paul has agreed an alternate linking site we will need all your support and help with this.

Here's how;
This thread will be used to submit new links, we need you to be pro-active in this, not reactive, we don't want to have to come and chase you this time (due to the size of this task)
how to submit new links? On every frontpaged track there is a download button, hovering your cursor over that download button will bring up a link that ends something like this "stixnum=000000" (This number is unique to your track).
When you have and alternate link for your frontpaged track I ask you to post the link in the thread below using this format;

DJ QWERTY
stixnum=000000 - (new link here)
stixnum=111111 - (new link here)
stixnum=222222 - (new link here)

If you are lucky enough to have multiple tracks frontpaged, then please provide all link at the same time to make this process easier.
There will have to be a cut off date for submitting new links and i will advise you of that in due course, all links not updated by that date will Unfortunately have to be deleted (sorry).

Anyway, until Paul has determined a site that he is happy to link to, none of this can happen, so don't do anything yet but be prepared when the time comes.

Oh and please don't post anything other than links in this thread (unless you are Paul) we need to keep it clean

PS. I'm not so sure Official are closing the door on Mashup producers, I think it may well just be a case of migrating to their new site. That said however we will still need to replace all the links.

Right Chaps... it's that time, Old Official.fm is now offline so we need all those people who have had their tracks frontpaged in the past to start sending us their new links so we can replace them.

So read the post above and follow it's instructions... This task is going to be huge so we are not going to be chasing you, it's up to you to help us.
The cut off date for supplying us with new links will be August the 31st... any Frontpage links found to still be dead after that date will unfortunately be deleted... sorry folks :1huh:

edit - I was just having a quick check and it appears some of you guys also used Official.fm to link to your images, so might i suggest all those who have been frontpaged (and used old official.fm) type your name into the search function on the frontpage and check not only your preview player but also make sure you have a nice pretty picture. If both are missing, please post both links to this thread... thanks guys :1smiley:

I notice Official have dropped the 'new' from their url. While I don't believe this affects FPd tracks with it in, it might be an idea to change the posting guidelines to reflect this. I'll do that now :1smiley:

Just a little tip - the ?1342870224 or whatever at the end of the links aren't really needed. The Official links work fine without them :1smiley:
