Welcome to Mashstix. I like your mashup. It sometimes gets a touch pitchy here and there but overall placement and timing is good and I enjoyed it. Mashstix is a fun place and a community so feel free to listen and comment on other's mashups and that will help you get more feedback on your mashups :)

Cheers

Welcome Marios_tuna!

Yes - this is a fun track, and not what I was expecting at all. Congratulations on doing the unexpected and using the Ghostbusters acapella as opposed to the oft over-used instrumental. Great choice in Sir Duke too, never heard that used before.

It is a touch pitchy at time as Bruski mentions, so I'd recommend nudging the vox down maybe 1 or 2dB and if you have something similar to a De-esser or Harshness Killer plug-in, that would help too (it's the frequencies within the reverb that tend to give it that pitchy vibe I think), running the vocals through it.

But a really nice track to introduce yourself to the boards with. Well done,

Cheers

thank you both for the warm welcome. and thank you for your hints. i'm not sure if i am going to put anymore work into this track but i'll at least consider your suggestions next time.
also i believe the feel of pitchiness has some further reason:
sir duke uses a more or less clear major tuning, ghostbusters uses a blues scale. so the major third (sir duke) collides with the smeary minor third in the hook of ghostbusters. unless i started making music way back with blues and are used to listening to old music produced without the help of autotune and the likes i considered the result ok. maybe it is not, facing the listening habits of 2012. :)

Even pre autotune producers were expected to mix vocals in tune. It always makes me laugh when i see music documentaries where the artist say "Yeah we did it in one take... we just nailled it first time"... no you didn't! You either did multiple takes and your producer spliced together individual words from each take or your producers used a lot of post-production trickery to make you sound the way you do.

From your comments you obviously have an understanding of music... and it's your call if you chose to leave this track as it stands.. but for me that would be a mistake because i rather like this combo.. but i can't think that i would ever play it again the way it is, with a few tweeks I would definitely download it and give it some plays... I'd also think about sharing it with the wider world on our frontpage.

But as it stands it's a nice idea.. So welcome to MashStix, i look forward to hearing more of your stuff in the near future :D :D :D

Hi welcome back :D

There is still a little too much sibilancy (it's a word honest) from those high hats but all in all this is such a fun track that i'm prepared to overlook them. :)

Oh btw i replaced your original preview player.

Nice work!
