Re: Coldplay Vs Richard Bedford - Sun & Moon In Technicolor
Really sorry but it's still not right.. It's just the 'never get over you/me' lines - sometimes, they're perfect, other times, it sounds like you gave up and they drift half a beat behind.
The timing should be
Where 1 is the start of the bar (excuse the uneven placing, some words are longer than others). Do me a favour - with your click track/metronome, have just that playing 'tik-tok-tok-tok-tik-tok-tok-tok' on a loop and sing the lines to yourself. That is what you're aiming for.
Problem lines are around 1.17 (they're a bit behind), 1.35 (they're half a beat behind), the line at 2.42 '..sun and moon to me..' drifts behind, culminating in over half a beat behind at 2.52. Also, it might be my imagination, but does the instrumental skip at 3.00? If so, it doesn't help at all.
It's odd because the rest of the acapella is fine, you just seem to have a problem with getting over people
The timing should be
- Code: Select all
2 3 4 1 2 3
You'll never get oooooooover me

Re: Coldplay Vs Richard Bedford - Sun & Moon In Technicolor
PLEASE fix this, already, would you?
Because see, here's the BIGGER problem:
You now have got my liking those vocals a LOT. So, when this mashup wasn't coming together I decided to see what the original Above & Beyond song was like, so I could just give up on your tune and like theirs instead. BUT, their dance / trance / whatever original just doesn't appeal to me. It sounds so much better with the Coldplay music. So..
I can't quit you, man.
I thought of ANOTHER way you might get those vocals lined up better, too. How about taking some perfectly looped bars of the ORIGINAL song, containing the vocal parts that still waver in yours, and lay them into your tune, on beat. THEN compare YOUR vocal placement with the original playing in your session. You'll be able to tell when the vocals match pretty easily then. Sound good?
Or, maybe Hifi's 'Code: Select all' method makes sense to you.
Whatever works, man!
I'm looking forward to this thing finally being vocally solid (and shining on the Front Page!)

p.s. Is there a chance you linked to the wrong version(s) in your TWO players, now? Why not just have ONE player, of the most current version? I'm starting to get more confused and second guess myself about what you've posted, and where.

Couple more things:
Being an electronic dance song, I'd say the acapella probably keeps good time on it's own.
Also, which DAW are you using to make your mashup?

I dont know what to say
But when i saw what i did wrong in the ''you never get over me'' part, it all made much more sense.
Hifibanjo: I was going to put the acapella just like you explained, it was actually what i thought i did. At 1.17, i originally put the vocals the right way, but then again i used the wrong ''high'' in the acapella. I should have used the first high but i used the second ^^
Anyways, when i ''rediscovered'' the beat it was pretty easy to place it.
Thx for all the tips tho everyone.
And by the way, when i mix i always use a click track or preferrebly the original with the vocals synced over to get the vocals to fit. But since ive removed about a minute of the instrumental here i managed to f**k it up somehow, ending up with the wrong ''beats''.
Next guitar track will defintely be easier tho, ive learned my lesson here now i hope
And Rhythm Scholar glad to hear that you like the vocals and the pairing, you really should give them a go with the Pixie Lott track. It is a GREAT pairing ^^
And ps i hope i didnt mess it up again, if so i surrender
New version up!

There are some tracks that you just have to chalk up to experience and put aside and move on. I'm afraid to say I think this is one of those, the verses work a treats, honestly they really do, but those choruses just aint working and to my ears unless you are prepared to do some re-editing of the instrumental I don't think they ever will sit entirely comfortably.
My advice would be to put this to one side and move on to the next project before this becomes an albatross around your neck.
...Who knows in a few weeks you may have a eureka moment and this will all just fall into place... but at the moment i feel you are trying too hard to fit a square peg into a round hole.
As i say, take a break and move on, time and distance from a track is always the best way to get some clarity and perspective.
