Alan Parsons is my favorite.

I would like to point out that there is a quite active Prog Rock scene at present. Most of the mainstream hits of the genre are from 30-40 years ago, but it's having a resurgence right now thanks to the Internet.

Transatlantic's "The Whirlwind" (2009) is like the Dark Side of the Moon of my generation. Spock's Beard, Dream Theater and The Neal Morse Band tend to dominate my personal playlist and they're all current bands, not a nostalgia fest. Or at least not nostalgia for their own music. (maybe nostalgia for those old bands through imitation perhaps)
