Well done Samad! You've done a great job with this one, as you can tell from your inclusion in this week's RadioStix Top Ten.
You sent us a note when you submitted this mashup, saying that it's your first attempt... so it's all the more impressive that you've nailed it so well. Firstly, you got it right in technical terms; your tempo matching and levels are great, and the verses & choruses all sit where they should in relation to the music. But more than that, you also got the elusive "X factor" by combining this particular rap with this particular instumental. The result is better than many rap mashups, because the two sources play off each other, and the combination creates a super infectious groove. This one had me swingin' and noddin' and tappin', all at the same time. And I usually can't stand Jay-Z. |

There are a couple of little things. You cut the "s" sound too short when you edited Jay-Z at 0:10, and you faded the track out a bit out too quickly at the end, and the fade was incomplete. Then, there were 39 seconds of "dead air" after the song. |

Sometimes with mashups, the devil is in the details. There are ways you can make your vocal edits sound more natural, and in this one the "s" sound should have been longer, and it should have had a tiny, tiny fade-out applied to it so it wasn't cut off so sharply. Apart from that, if you want to keep making rap mashups, just keep finding interesting combos like this one and you won't go wrong.
