This would have been a good little mega mash type thing, if it wasn’t for .....
Cons:
It starts off well enough, but Sweet Dreams is out of key (not to mention a really bad DIT acapella) - It spoils the mix from the start. The idea with just using the White Stripes Bassline is a very good one, especially when you drop in the beat and start cutting it up. At times the tempo is not matched, which gives an amateurish feel to the track. When Rihanna’s vocals come in they are also a bit loud, this needs lowering to fit in with your concept. And lastly its very long at almost 6 minutes – most people (and trust me, I know) turn off if something is too long.
Tips:
Normally with all the above, I would just say bin it and move on, or I would have rejected this. BUT.... this is a nice idea and the concept of it works. I especially like the White Stripes bits. So, I would recommend that you go back and look at this again. There’s more than enough people on here you can run demo’s past if you need a new pair of ears to hear it over.
This is more like a mega-mix than a traditional mashup. Many different sources are used. This mix is in no way boring. A lot of action and fast transitions between the sources. Some parts work VERY well. I especially like the part where Eagle Eye Cherry’s “Save Tonight” kicks in. The timing is great and there might be a few minor key clashes here and there. You did a great job with this one.
Cons:
At times I think there is too much going on. Things get too cluttered fast.
Tips:
I'd love to hear what you could do with a simple A+B mashup because you know for sure how to shake things together.
Its a bit of a mega mash, in a ‘Girl Talk’ kinda stylie. I counted 22 different tracks in this. It’s a good effort, and I love the title, but ........................
Cons:
It does sound a bit manic. There are a few key issues as you fly through the tracks. I think you’ve used a lot of rap before. Because of this, you have to be aware that when you use acapella’s from other genres, they will be sung in a key which must match the track your trying to blend it into. Also, at around 5 minutes the track becomes really messy with way to much going on at once.
Tips:
If I were you , I would start off by making just an A+B with different genre’s you are used to. From there, try a multi mash of three tracks, and so on. You have to understand what makes a track blend into another before you can just chuck ‘em all in the cooking pot.
