Yeah - seems like I'm becoming your personal reviewer. And trust me - I couldn't be more happy about that. There's so much crap out there that it feels pretty good to listen to your tunes. And regarding this one - of course another flawless production.
Cons:
When I listened the first time, I found the vox over vox bit at 0:54 a bit distracting but when I listened again I got used to it :)
Tips:
Who am I to give Mr. Lasso any tips... ;)

This is definitely a highlight I got to review here. Absolutely fabulous production - flawless and soooo smooth. I love how you blended the sources into one great track. Everybody should be listening to it - this is how it's done guys!
Cons:
Not a single one.

(Kansas vs. R.E.M.)
Primarily a video mix, it has a very sombre ~ yet strangely airy and summery feel to the proceedings with good quality resources used throughout. Structurewise the music is nicely composed against its counterpart in suitable parts of the Kansas track, and the mastering is a pretty decent effort as well. As a mashup it's a very nice little number. Now, the video itself..
Cons:
I understand the overall look and feel you were going for with this one, but for me personally I felt that it just fell short of the mark. It seemed to range from suitably apt Stock Images that accompanied the vocals at key moments, to a small video clip of Kansas at the halfway point, back to a few 'Red Herring' images that didn't really relate to anything in particular? It was all a bit too static slideshow for me, and I felt that you should have employed more slow panning of larger images which then maybe faded subtley into the next.. The girls face with the blue eye was a nice shot ~ albeit a bit juttery on it's animated rotational path. The choice of typeface was inappropriate for the wispy acoustic feel of it all as well. I'd have chosen a lighter Serif font. Something more suited to the music in question. It's little things like this which aren't particularly difficult to create, but will instantly enhance your compositing and show that a bit more love and care was taken over it. Also, I missed an MP3 download on your blog!
Tips:
If you enjoy creating these videos in this particular style (which when done right work just as well as movie files) then try to make things a bit more consistent, less 'Basic After Effects tutorial' and display a more sympathetic useage of fonts. It can become SO easy to overload your production with forever changing filter effect upon crazy zoom effect upon rotating image effect upon..etc, so keep it simple. Try to keep to a specific number of desired effects per composition and learn to utilise them well against one another. Some movies have stunning intro sequences for their credits that utilise fonts and lettering to stunning results. Finally as an example, I would like to show you my good friends Art Showreel that he put together utilising all these effects mentioned - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdOUJ5KilN0
Yes I know it's all HIS own artwork, but the whole approach of the production coupled with the backing music just looks and sounds awesome. Now imagine your Summery mix with long slow pans of nicely blending in (appropriate) imagery and it would work a LOT better. **Note By Paul Stix: The MP3 link is in another post, hence the DL link will go there. In the future, I would highly recommend that you stick both video and mp3 links (as well as any other art) in one post as people can very easy miss some parts. Welcome to Mashstix! and congratulations on being the first person ever to get a FULL 1 page review. LOL.
