This is the last Mashstix Alternative Show. I like to personally thank G3RST for the amazing job he's done with the show (don't worry he's not leaving the team)
There is some good news with the bad however, as The Radio Stix Show will be back in full swing with a whole new crew... keep your eyes peeled! - Paul Stix
Bynar has produced a Dark, Moody track of such epic proportions that the superlatives have yet to be invented to describe it, however that is what I must do... can't just leave this box empty...
By taking as his backdrop the Rob Dougan Instrumental - Furious Angels (some may recognize it from the opening fight sequence in The Matrix Reloaded), Bynar has chosen an electronic orchestral track that acts as the perfect bed to lay the "indie rock" vocal talents of Emily Haines on, there isn't a note out of place, the beats and vocals work together superbly well creating a distinctly "original" sounding track.
Add into the mix a dash of Hybrid and Leftfield and the result is a track so outstanding that it will have you believing in a higher power.
If you are a lover of big beat, if you like The Prodigy, The Chemical Bros, The Propellerheads, then you're in for a real treat!!!
Cons:
It does however have to end...but that's what the "repeat" button is for.
Bynar nails yet another combination in his trademark darker style - I don't know how he does it. This time, Depeche Mode benefits from being paired up with the track which held promise when it first brought Linkin Park to the world stage. DM gets much needed beefing up, with LP's familiar strangled guitar puntcuating nicely at the key points.
Cons:
Overlaying the two musical tracks does detract from the production slightly. That's inevitable, but Bynar has essentially overcome it for the most part.
Tips:
Did Darth Vader teach Emperor Palatine to channel the Dark Side of the Force? I think not. You might as well ask Jar Jar Binks!
Way to go Dj Bynar! Combining artists like UNKLE, hybrid and Moby isn't an easy job and the way you combined these tracks is well impressive. it is definitely not a mainstream mashup (what else to expect when reviewing a Dj Bynar Mash) and i must admid i had to look up the new hybrid track you've used. But this dark trip hop electro sound surely sticks.
Even though you've made a separate dark remix i think this one isn't that light either :)
Cons:
Only got a first timer issue, some parts are kind of overwhelming meaning that there's a lot happening in the different audio layers. But after a couple of runs i got kind of used to it.
Tips:
No, just keep mashing! You're style is somehow quite unique.
Hard hitting indie-rave fusion. DJ Bynar Delivers the goods yet again.
When you see the name Bynar on a mashup, you know it's going to be good, and this is no exception. A challenging project well executed by the bionicaly engineered mashup ninja assassin.
Cons:
I wouldn't even dare to try and mix these 2 tracks, neither has much space in the mix and as a result this does at times sound like a long dj mix, a vey good one, but not like a track in its own right.
Listening to this mashup pushes me back to 1994 when a younger G3RSt saw the first Crow movie somewhere in a sneak preview. The song 'Burn' by the Cure was in that one as well, and both movie and soundtrack were really gloomy, epic and renewing for their time. Now some 15 years later, Bynar comes along and takes one of those forgotten Cure gems and blends them with something nobody would ever think of.
After listening to the original Kris Corleone track, it's amazing to hear how much a vocal can gain by being placed on the right backing track. In this case, it's totally overhauled and given a whole new context. Even the French accent seems fitting and decadent in this setting.
To cut things short: this is a great track!
Cons:
There's cons, and there's nitpicking, so here's nitpicking... The vocal could do with a bit of boost in the low areas and maybe some light compression. Mind you, this would only make the track slightly better.
Tips:
Hahahaha! No. Just keep on dreaming up combos like this.
Awesome track! Everything, from choice of sources, to basic mix and song structure, to beatwork and glitching, to dense industrial-like production, to massive vibe creation, works like a charm here, turning three (actually four) great, but individually rather innocuous, tracks into one unrelentingly sinister beast! And although this is truly scary stuff, it's not without its subtleties: like a classic horror film compared to a splatter movie. It's the perfect soundtrack for Halloween (the holiday, not the flick!).
Cons:
None. Some people might say it's too dense, but I think they'd be missing the point.
Tips:
Keep on rockin' your unique style and bringing us the dark-side bangers... And have a great Halloween!
